Lucas | Ft. Lauderdale Newborn Photographer

Another gorgeous momma with her tiny newborn.  I love seeing how new parents interact with their little ones.  This baby makes 4 in this household.  It’s really important to me as a photographer, that when I photograph newborns,  to capture them and their new family in their real environment.  I want the images to tell the story of the family at that exact moment in time.  Any new parent will tell you that life with a two week old is different from life with a four week old, 6 six week old, etc….  Newborns change so much during that first year.

Expecting?  Let courtney ortiz photography tell your story.

Till next time,

Family Friday | Ft Lauderdale Family Photographer

I’d love to start this post off and declare that every Friday from here on as “Family Friday” and dedicate it to images of my kiddos, but I know better than to do something like that.  My follow through isn’t that great.  I remember a year or so ago I started “Photo of the Day”.  That lasted about a week, if that.  So instead of declaring every Friday “Family Friday”, I declare just today “Family Friday”.  That way if I’m able to continue it then it’s just an added bonus, and if not, well, I never promised you a rose garden.

These images of my daughter were taken over the summer.  I love them all.  There are about 30 total in the gallery.  I’d like to do a super super large “Signature 16” storyboard for her room.  But as most personal images, they unfortunately have sat way too long collecting dust on the hard drive…until now.  She’s really become quite a little ham for me, when she’s in the mood.  Which I really enjoy.  My son isn’t so much a willing participant.  Of course each quick session has to end with a lollipop, but I don’t mind obliging when I’m able to look at what she gives me in return.  Melt my heart!  Owen will come over eventually when he’s tired of her getting all the attention.  I’m one lucky parent.

She's "Way Tutu Cute" | Ft. Lauderdale Family Photographer

So excited to share these images.  These two little ones were the lucky winner of the waytutucute.com blog giveaway.  In case you missed it, I was interviewed on the waytutucute.com blog a couple of weeks ago. (read it here!)  It was great. It coincided with the opening of the new courtney ortiz photography facebook fan page, and as part of the celebration I gave away a gift certificate for a studio session along with an 8×10.  These two little sisters are adorable, and if you know me,  you know I have always had a soft spot for red heads.  Love her leg warmers???  They’re available here on the waytutucute.com website!

Studio sessions for the remainder of the year are limited.  For more information on how to book yours, don’t hesitate to contact me at courtney@courtneyortiz.com or 954-558-6893.

Happy Monday!

Studio Photography | Ft. Lauderdale Photographer

To say it was hard to pick a few favorites for the blog is an understatement.  Meet Mia!  Full of personality with an equally large imagination.  In the course of our photography session we played in the snow, visited grandma, had a tea party, and had Dora over for a playdate.  Quite a lot to fit into the course of an hour.  We had such fun, but I’ll let the images speak for themselves.

I have two openings this Sunday in the studio.  Call or email for more information.

This little guy came by the studio a couple of weeks ago (I’m a little behind on the blogging here.)  for a studio photography session.  He was bursting at the seams with personality.  And then there are those eyes…… I’ll let the images speak for themselves about those.

Vizcaya | Ft. Lauderdale Photographer

A lifestyle family photography session at Vizcaya??  Yes, please!   This family all the way from Switzerland, has become one of my regulars over the years.  We first met back in 2009 when I was holding mini sessions at the Janie and Jack store down in Merrick Park.  I’d love to think they fly stateside just for their yearly portrait session, but  the fact that they’ve made the family portrait session part of their visit is fine by me. (Check out last summer’s session here!)  We really wanted to do something different this time.  We had done South Beach and Hollywood Beach so it was time to do something that wasn’t “beach”.  Can’t get much better than Vizcaya.  Vizcaya is perfect for letting little ones run around and explore.  Lots of little nooks and crannies and great shade.  This was actually the third family photography session I’ve done at Vizcaya over the years and it’s definitely one of my favorite places to play.  Although, I’m looking forward to going back when it’s not so hot.

Gridiron Grill-Off | Ft. Lauderdale Photographer

I’m back from a nice, long, well deserved three-day weekend.  We’ve been so busy here the last couple of weeks as we prepare for the second annual Gridiron Grill-Off.  As I mentioned in a previous post, I’ve been working with Dolphin Alumni John Offerdahl to get ready for this amazing charity event that takes place on Friday, November 18, to benefit 4Kids of South Florida.  On this particular rainy afternoon, I had the privilege to meet #67 Bob Kuechenberg who holds two Super Bowl rings and was a member of the 1972 undefeated Dolphins under coach Don Shula.  Now granted, I was born in 1976, but having grown up in Miami being a Florida native (few and far between these days I know!), I truly have an appreciation  for who he is and what the Dolphins have accomplished.  In fact, over the past few weeks I’ve had the chance to meet a number of Dolphin greats that I will be posting over the next couple of weeks on the blog.  So for the Gridiron Grill-Off, “Kuech” (as he is lovingly and respectfully referred to) is paired with Chef John Schupbach, the executive chef at the Casablanca Cafe on Ft. Lauderdale Beach.  Which by the way if you’re looking for a unique and delicious dining experience.  Do yourself and favor and go.  I’ve eaten there a number of times and have never been disappointed.  The ambiance alone is worth the trip.  The restaurant is actually located in what was the first house on Ft. Lauderdale Beach.  For more information on the Gridiron Grill-Off or 4Kids of South Florida please check out their websites.

In other studio news, courtney ortiz photography now has a facebook fanpage.  I’ve held out long enough, trying to use a personal account for both, but the time has come.  Please “like” us on facebook.   Also, check out the wonderful interview of me on the waytutucute.com blog.  I’m featured as a “way tutu busy mommy“.  And ain’t that the truth.
